Nanny Definition:
In general a 'Nanny' is the definition for a professional child carer who has shared or sole charge of one or more children within your home. A nanny will be a professional, qualified or experienced child carer and are primarily employed to take care of the child's physical, emotional and educational needs. A nanny will work on a temporary or permanent basis, part time or full time, days or night, weekdays, weekends or ad hoc basis.

Nanny Duties:
Nannies are responsible for carrying out 'Nursery Duties' which are anything pertaining to the care of the child/children to include the children's washing, ironing, cleaning, tidying and organisation of play areas, caring for toys and equipment. Nursery Duties does not include general cleaning or housekeeping unless specifically agreed beforehand within the contract of employment.
A nanny will cook for your baby or child/children drive them to and from school or activities such as required. An employed nanny will be responsible for keeping a diary/log of day to day events, information you should be made aware of and any administration of medicine (as agreed by the employer).

Live-in / Live-out:
A live-in child carer will be paid an agreed weekly salary which takes in to account the live-in provisions. Meals will be provided whilst on duty. A live-in child carer must be provided with a minimum of a furnished, private bedroom and use of a bathroom. The live-in child carer will have access to a kitchen to prepare meals food and beverages. A live- out nanny will typically be provided with meals whilst on duty and will be paid based on an agreed hourly rate.

Daily Nanny:
A daily nanny is a professional child carer who will have sole responsibility for your child/children in your own home on a day to day basis. Daily nannies typically work up to 11 hours per day but can be as little as 2 or 3 hours per day.
Salary Guide: £7.00 - £9.00 net per hour.

Week day Live-in Nanny:
A week day live-in nanny will typically arrive on a Monday morning and leave on a Friday evening. They will be provided with a minimum of a furnished room and use of a bathroom. A week day live-in nanny will be paid an hourly rate as that of a live-out nanny. Often the main reason the nanny will live-in is to make the position physically possible, i.e. the travel distance on a daily basis would be too far. Other reasons include parents requiring early starts and late finishes.
Salary Guide: £6.00 - £9.00 net per hour

Live-in Nanny:
A live in nanny will typically work up to 55 hours per week and remain available for two week day babysits per week. A live in nanny requires suitable accommodation to include the minimum of a furnished room and use of a bathroom. Unless agreed within a contract of employment, the nanny will not be required to work or babysit during the weekend. If the nanny does work at the weekend they will be paid an agreed hourly rate in addition to their normal salary.
Salary Guide: £250 - £350 net per week

Nanny Share:
Two or more families employ one nanny to care for their children together in one of the families' homes. In this circumstance the families share the costs of employing a nanny and the nanny tends to achieve a slightly higher rate of pay.
Salary Guide: £8.00 - £12.00 net per hour

Mothers/Fathers help:
A qualified or experienced child carer will work alongside and support the parent. Typically, a Mothers/Fathers help will be an extra pair of hands and will generally 'muck in' with childcare, nursery duties and light domestic duties.
A mothers/fathers help may have a mixture of sole and shared charge of the child/children.
Salary Guide: £6.00 - £8.00 net per hour

Nanny Housekeeper:
A split responsibility that incorporates the day to day role of a nanny and that of a housekeeper. Typically a nanny/housekeeper will do the school runs, take care of the family laundry and ironing, basic cleaning duties, general running of the household and prepare and cook the family evening meal. The Nanny/Housekeeper may be asked to organise other staff and take on some Nanny PA duties.
Salary Guide: £250 - £350 net per week live-in / £7.00 - £9.00 net per hour live-out

Nanny PA:
Many of our clients are self employed and have a home office, it is often the case that support is required in many areas of day to day life for busy self employed parents. A nanny pa will enable the parent to have a good balance between work and childcare by taking on the responsibility of providing childcare, admin support and assistance for your home office or business in addition to the day to day shopping, collection of dry cleaning, organising staff, paying bills and generally maintaining the family diary. The nanny pa will have good IT and communication skills and have some previous office experience. In addition they will have qualifications or experience in childcare.
A Nanny PA can also be incorporated in to a Nanny PA/Housekeeper to include general housekeeping and cleaning.
Salary Guide: £250 - £400 net per week live-in / £7.00 - £9.00 net per hour live-out

Baby sitter:
A baby sitter will hold a CRB enhanced disclosure and a Paediatric first aid certificate as well as babysitting experience. Typically our babysitters are off-duty nannies and child carers looking for some extra earnings.
A babysitter will supervise your children / check on sleeping babies and children throughout the evening as required. The babysitter's hourly rate will increase for the number of hours you require ironing. A babysit can be carried out in a family home, a hotel or similar.
Salary Guide: £6.00 - £7.00 per hour, + £1.50 per hour for additional ironing

Maternity Nurse:
Typically employed before and or after the birth providing 24 hour support for mother and baby. A maternity nurse will encourage good sleeping and feeding routines and aim to establish a good general routine. In addition your maternity nurse will provide guidance on caring for your baby offer post natal information and support. A maternity nurse will encourage you to rest and catch up on sleep whilst caring for your baby and cooking nutritious meals for you and your family. You will need to provide your maternity nurse with a private bedroom and use of a bathroom.
Maternity nurses work on a self employed basis and will charge a gross salary in addition to reasonable mileage Costs.
Salary Guide: £125 - £150 gross per 24 hours

Maternity Nanny:
A qualified and experienced nanny who has particular newborn experience. A maternity nanny will offer general support and allow you to get some much needed rest. A maternity nanny may also care for additional children, and generally 'muck in' with domestic duties and cooking meals.
Maternity nannies will typically work during the day/evening providing support during the times that will be most beneficial.
Salary Guide: £8.00 - £10.00 net per hour

Au-Pair:
An au pair is typically aged 17-27 years and comes to England primarily to study and learn English. You will provide a private furnished room and shared bathroom in addition to meals. You will pay your au pair a small weekly allowance in return for 25 hours of childcare and domestic help. An au pair is not qualified to have sole charge of young children and should not be used as a nanny. An au pair should be treated as part of the family.
Salary Guide: Au pair £70 per week (25 hours) / Au pair plus £90 per week (35 hours)

Mobile Crèche:
Ideal for weddings, special events, conferences and businesses requiring a short term crèche facility on site. We will provide child carers registered with The Parent & Child Nanny Agency to run a mobile crèche. We will provide age appropriate activities and toys, our child carers can feed babies, and provide snacks and drinks throughout the day. Our child carer's aim is to provide quality care, and a fun filled day.
Costs vary: £40.00 per hour = up to 10 children

All our child carers will hold a CRB enhanced disclosure valid within the past 24 months, hold a first aid certificate and have a minimum of 2 child care references and 1 character reference with the exception of babysitters who may have 2 character references. Our child carers are non-smokers and the majority hold a driving licence.
