A professional maternity nurse can be an invaluable support to mother and baby in the days leading up to and preceding a birth. A maternity nurse is typically employed to provide 24 hour support at home before and after the birth of a new baby. A good maternity nurse will work with you to establish good feeding routines, sleeping patterns, encourage you to eat and sleep as well as provide general post natal advice and support. In addition your maternity nurse will provide guidance on bathing, dressing, grooming and general care and health of your newborn.

A maternity nurse will cost £125.00 - £150.00 for a single baby
                                       £150.00 - £175.00 for twins +

• Costs are based on a 24 hour period
• A maternity nurse will work on a self employed basis and take care of their own tax and national insurance contributions.
• You will need to provide your maternity nurse with a private room to rest and use of a bathroom
• Maternity Nurses typically work 24 hours per day (with reasonable time off to rest at an agreed time), 6 days per week.

When considering a maternity nurse, bear in mind that nurses can be booked up to 6 months in advance so it is worth booking early to ensure peace of mind.
