Working parents with children need suitable child care in place. More often parents are requesting nannies to take on additional services to ensure the full running of a busy family household.

Housekeeper duties

Housekeeping is similar to nursery duties but for the entire family. A housekeeper will often undertake the following:

• Household laundry
• Household general cleaning
• Household cooking
• Organising the household diary
• Family shopping

Parents of school aged children will often request full child care in the school holidays and a mixed Nanny/Housekeeper role during the term time

PA Duties

This can be tailored to your requirements and can be particulary beneficial to those running a home office. A Nanny PA will often undertake the following tasks:

• Answering the phone and recording messages
• Sending and replying to emails
• Organising additional household staff
• Paying bills
• Arranging family holidays
• Organising the household diary
• Booking services (ie car MOT)

Parents using a Nanny/PA may be running a business or working from home and require a lot of flexibility to enable a good balance between work and home life with the support of a Nanny PA.

Domestic Duties

Any additional domestic duties may by agreement be added to a nannies contract of employment. This may include but is not subject to:

• Household laundry
• Ironing
• Emptying of dishwasher/washing up
• Family cooking
• General cleaning
• Light cleaning

Not all child carers are happy to take on additional domestic tasks. Always ensure any additional services are clear and documented within the contract of employment.
