The position required: Nanny
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Position start date: 19/05/2025 No flexibility
Requirements: Permanent nanny, Part-time nanny
Duties: Trips and outings, Taking to play/toddler groups, Light housekeeping
Nanny responsibility: The nanny will have sole charge
Preferred nanny attributes: Childcare qualifications, Ofsted registration, Childcare experience, DBS, Driver, Outdoorsy, Creative, Non-smoker

Nanny duties and expectations
We would like a nanny to care for our son 3 days a week from our family farm. We would expect the nanny to:
– complete general childcare duties
– serve meals during our working hours (we will prepare the food)
– support independent play
– ensure he has some time outdoors every day
– arrange engaging activities throughout the week, e.g. one day bringing a craft activity, one day doing a themed learning activity etc. We would be happy to fund the materials for this.
– take him to a playgroup / class perhaps once a week (this is flexible)

Monday: 9-5

Further details about child 1: Our son was born in April 2024 and will be 13 months when we need a nanny. He is a happy little boy who especially loves time outdoors and playing with musical instruments. We’d love to give him the opportunity to spend lots of time outdoors learning while he is young, and for him to learn through play and engaging activities. We like to read together, go on walks, cook, play musical instruments, and play with toys like wooden blocks and cars. We’d love a nanny that will encourage curiosity and kindness,  and encourage independent play whilst giving him stimulation to challenge him.

Parenting style: We try to provide a mixture of baby-led and independent play alongside activities with us. These are simple activities like cooking, playing with toys, reading, water play, craft etc. We spend a lot of time outdoors and this is really important to us to encourage in our son.

Further details: We live on a small family farm (near Huish Champflower) down a single track road. The farmhouse has a big kitchen and lounge, and plenty of outdoor space including a big garden, vegetable patch and lots of farm fields which can be walked and played in. It is a rural property so a nanny would need to be comfortable with this.

My husband and I both work from home however we work upstairs and won’t be ‘around’ during the day as we think this would be confusing for our son – we’d like to keep our work and his childcare very separate. We will be around during our lunch break when it would be nice to see him and have our food together.

Details: We do not have any house pets but live on a small farm so have a few chickens, ducks and sheep outside.
