IT IS AN ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT THAT ALL NANNIES AND CHILDCARERS HOLD A DBS ENHANCED DISCLOSURE WHEN WORKING WITH CHILDREN.

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is a public body of the UK Home Office. Its primary purpose is to assist certain employers to make sound recruitment decisions by accessing criminal records information. DBS disclosures help to identify those who may be unsuitable to work with children and other vulnerable members of society.

What do I Need to Provide?

In order to carry out a DBS check you will need to meet you in person and take copies of the following original documents:

  • Identification documents (passport, driving licence, birth certificate)
  • Proof of address (utility bill, council tax bill, bank statement)
  • National Insurance number (wage slip, Ni card, P45)

How Much Does it Cost?

The Parent & Child Nanny Agency uses an umbrella organisation for DBS Applications and charges £89 for a DBS Enhanced Disclosure.

How Long Does it Take?

It is not possible to put an exact timescale on DBS checks, however DBS have stated their aim is to complete 75% of all checks within 14 days of receiving the application. On some occasions we have had checks return in as little as 24 hours.
