TEMPORARY NANNY SERVICE FAQ’S

WHAT IS A TEMPORARY NANNY SERVICE?
A temporary nanny will provide professional sole or shared charge childcare at a residential location such as your home, a friends or families home address.

CAN I BOOK A TEMPORARY NANNY FOR A HOTEL OR HOLIDAY STAY?
Yes! However, we require a specific hotel/holiday childcare booking form is completed.

HOW LONG CAN I BOOK A TEMPORARY NANNY FOR?
You can book a temporary nanny for any length of time from 1 day to 12 weeks. If your booking is longer than 12 weeks, we can still help but will ask for a different form to be completed.

I AM NOT SURE HOW LONG I NEED A TEMPORARY NANNY – HOW DO I BOOK?
No problem! You can book and pay week by week, however, if you would like to confirm availability with the same nanny, we recommend booking in advance as we can only guarantee availability for confirmed bookings.

HOW MUCH NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO BOOK A TEMPORARY NANNY?
Please book your temporary childcare as soon as possible. We accept last-minute bookings and bookings months in advance. Bookings are made on a first come first served basis and our busiest periods are school holidays. Please rest assured we offer a full refund of agency fees if we are not able to fulfil a booking request.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD FOR A TEMPORARY NANNY?
The minimum booking period is charged at 3.5 hours. If you book less than 3.5 hours you will still need to pay your nanny the minimum booking charge unless the nanny is agreeable to a less than 3.5 hour booking period. If you wish to extend the hours to meet the requirements of the minimum booking charge, please liaise with your nanny prior to the booking date. If we are unable to provide a nanny willing to work 3.5 hours of less we will be in touch with the options.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
The breakdown of costs are as follows:
The agency booking fee (£50) + the nanny’s hourly rate (£15) + a possible additional fuel contribution (depending on location).
Nanny hourly rates may increase to £20 ph during festive periods 24th December to 1st January inclusive) and bank/public holidays.

HOW DO I BOOK A TEMPORARY NANNY?
Booking is simple, just complete our temporary nanny booking form and we will guide you through the next steps.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Simply complete our cancel booking form.
The agency booking fee is non-refundable but is transferable to a date in the same week subject to availability. The minimum booking period of 3.5 hours will be charged by your temporary nanny if you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice.
If your temporary nanny cancels the booking you will be provided with a replacement, or, if no replacement is available, you will be refunded in full.

IS MY TEMPORARY NANNY SECURITY CHECKED, QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED?
All temporary nannies are qualified in childcare and teaching and/or highly experienced professionals who have been fully security and reference checked by the agency hold a DBS Enhanced Disclosure for complete peace of mind.

CAN I MEET MY TEMPORARY NANNY OR TEMPORARY IN ADVANCE OF THE BOOKING?
Due to the high demand for temporary childcare, it is not usually possible to meet your temporary nanny in advance unless you have specific circumstances such as a child with additional needs. We are always happy to check with your nanny, if they are available, we request a small payment is made to cover the nanny’s time and travel costs. If the nanny is not available in person, you may be able to arrange a meeting via video call.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TEMPORARY NANNY AND A BABYSITTER? 
You will receive the same quality of service and calibre of nanny regardless of which booking you make. As a guide, a temporary nanny will care for your children during the day or day and night, and a babysitter will offer evening and night time childcare from 6 pm

I WOULD LIKE THE TEMPORARY NANNY TO TAKE MY CHILDREN OUT AND ABOUT – IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Absolutely! Our temporary nannies can take your children out to local attractions with your permission. Your booking is entirely bespoke so do let us know if you have any special requirements.

CAN I CONTACT MY TEMPORARY NANNY DIRECTLY TO MAKE MORE BOOKINGS?
No. All temporary bookings must go through The Parent & Child Nanny Agency. Failure to do so will result in additional fees.

WHAT ABOUT COVID-19
The Parent & Child Nanny Agency ensures all nannies are following government guidelines and taking additional precautions to prevent the spread or, contamination of Covid-19. Temporary nannies will have clean clothes, hand sanitiser and wear a face shield or face mask if required and will follow social distancing measures. In addition, most of our temporary nannies are regularly testing using NHS provided lateral flow tests.
